Browned pork breakfast patties on a dark plate

Ready-made breakfast patties usually contain a lot more than meat. Making your own takes ten minutes and the ingredient list is two lines long. Choose ground pork that isn't too lean so the patties stay juicy.

Method

  1. Mix the pork with the salt with your hands until just combined.
  2. Shape into 8 thin patties, about 3 inches across. Press a small dent in the middle of each so they stay flat.
  3. Cook in a skillet over medium heat for 4 to 5 minutes per side, until browned and cooked through (160°F inside, the USDA minimum for ground pork).
  4. Drain on a plate and serve.

Tips

Wet your hands before shaping so the meat doesn't stick.

Storage and reheating

Cooked patties keep 4 days in the fridge or 3 months frozen. Freeze raw patties between squares of baking paper.
